Vermont Covered Bridge(s)

September 7, 2007
Today marks the end of our first week on the road. We've travelled over 2,200 miles and none the worse for wear. For old fellas, I think we're holding up reasonably well. We've travelled further than I had expected. Tomorrow we'll reach the zenith of our trip, Bay Harbor, Maine. From that point on, we've riding south.

Today was a good day, except for the heat. We ate breakfast at the Up For Breakfast café in Manchester, Vermont. Up in the sense that the café is up stairs. The food .. delicious. I ate two cinnamon pancakes, which, if you’re ever had carrot cake, you know just what these pancakes taste like. 45 minutes or so later, needing to go back to sleep, off we went on route 30 .. the scenic tour.
20 minutes out of Brattleboro, VT we came upon a covered bridge that demanded to be photographed. What do you think?

The bridge did demand a photo, so you did what you must. I'm very much enjoying your advenures. The weather is confusing- cold in the morn & hot in aft. Is that how it works everywhere? Allan & I will be around that area in 2 weeks. So forget the shorts, right? Nice picture of you on the bike, looking verile & tough. Don't think I ever meet the lady behind you. But she looked like she was having fun too. Hope Terry's tooth is feeing fine. He too looks verile & tough on that cycle.
Love, H.
